Christmas '08 was fast and furious, but a delight still. The weekend before Christmas, some of Kent's family celebrated Christmas together at Mimi's house. It is tradition to have a birthday cake and party for Jesus, so we all do not forget the true meaning of Christmas. Then, the Jones clan headed to Houston to have Christmas with my side of the family a few days before Christmas and stayed until a few days after. We enjoyed spending lots of time with Nana and Popper, and my sister's family with some of the boys' girl cousins, Sarah and Elizabeth. Good times ... too bad much of Mommy's and Daddy's hands were busy taking care and managing the chaos that we don't have a TON of pics of the passing holidays. Here are some of the good times had. Brooks requested a bike and "a real guitar" and Brayden is still happy no matter what the present! We thought he would LOVE the bike more than the guitar, but he was giddy over the guitar and pretty much looked right passed the bike looking for his "real guitar." When he opened it, we saw pure bliss on his sweet face... as you can tell from the pictures. Brayden loved all of his presents, and the wrapping paper! I have to add that Kent and I evaluated our family, its traditions and where we are putting our emphasis. As much as we try, we could try even harder to glorify Jesus even more. We desire for our boys to grow up remembering how we honored our Savior each Christmas, and not necessarily all of the presents we received from Santa, parents, grandparents, etc. If you have any ideas as to how we can do this more, please let us know!!
Enjoy our Christmas and we pray you have a blessed and Happy New Year!

Michael and I had the same debate. We finally have adopted an idea we got from a friend of ours. We will each get 3 gifts--to symbolize the gifts the wise men brought to Jesus. 1 gift will be a "want", the second will be a "need" and the third will be something that is intended to bring the recipient closer to their walk with the Lord. (for Claire this year, that gift was a Fisher Price Nativity set--so we could play out the Christmas story with her each year).
It works out great in a family of 4 like we are about to have because everyone can get 1 present for someone else and it all adds up to 3 gifts each.
We figure grandparents will end up making up any slack on the presents area so we don't feel too guilty about limiting our own family gift giving!
